YAMAHA

Nippon Gakki was founded in 1987 as a company specialized in the construction of organs and pianos founded by Torakusu Yamaha, from which various sectors were spun off in 1955.

Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd, based in Iwata, is therefore committed to the construction of two-wheeled motors, relying on the experience gained with the knowledge in the processing of metal alloys for musical instruments.

Yamaha is currently the second largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world, after compatriot Honda.

Yamaha's first motorcycle was the 1 YA-1, a 125cc single-cylinder two-stroke engine. Introduced in February 1955, the bike won its first race, the Mount Fuji Ascent Race, in July of the same year. Yamaha was committed to the two-stroke field until it launched the XS-1 in 1969, a 650cc twin-cylinder four-stroke. Ten years later, in 1979, he won the first Paris-Dakar rally with the almost production enduro XT 500.

Today Yamaha produces a complete range of vehicles, from scooters with displacements from 50 to 500 cc, and an articulated range of motorcycles from 50 to 1,900 cc, in the cruiser, sport touring, sport, dual-sport, and offroad segments. The Yamaha logo is made up of three superimposed tuning forks, commemorating the main activity in the field of music.
